How are the production values: Alakazam makes great DVDs, wonderful value. Everything is well shot and well filmed.
Is it well made: I would have preferred plastic envelopes so that there was some longevity to the effect, but the bottom line is, the envelopes are not gimmicked, so you’ll be able to use your own envelopes going forward if you choose.
Is it well taught: Peter Nardi gives you several routine ideas, including Steve Cook’s original version (printable pdfs on the DVD) his own routine and even a mentalism routine with ESP cards
My thoughts (what I personally liked/disliked): I liked the simplicity of the routine. The write up does say “easy to do” and that is true, provided you can easily recall the routine in the moment. The routine does require some remembering from you and the strength of the routine will require you to be confident in the moment.
Storage? Does it "pack flat?" all you need is 4 flat paper envelopes.
Does it "play big?" in the end, this is a mentalism routine – bank note is a strong routine and so this will rely on you making this trick your own,
Difficulty / Skill level required: super easy
How much arts and crafts are involved? All you need to do is decide what the prediction cards will say.
How practical is this in the real world? (can it really be done?) this trick relies on 3 spectators and yourself sitting at a table.
Overall score: let's toss out the traditional score of 1-10 and make this something that we all can appreciate and understand.
__X__ Very Satisfied
_____ Neither Satisfied or Dissatisfied
_____ Somewhat Dissatisfied
_____ Very Dissatisfied
_____ No Opinion
This wasn’t the hard hitting routine I was expecting from Alakazam. In the beginning of the DVD Peter Nardi says that this “slays” but I wasn’t blown away at first – until I considered a few other possibilities and began fooling with it and now I have a routine that kills AND slays!
